The following full-time students attending Rockford University were named Distinguished Scholars for the fall 2017 semester, earning at least a 3.75 GPA with no grades below "C" and having completed all requirements for the semester:
Carthage Model UN students competed in a field of approximately 1,500 students from 92 universities and colleges across the United States and the world. Carthage students tackled issues of international importance such as: combating violence and violent extremism, bridging digital divides, enhancing regional economic cooperation and integration in Asia and the Pacific, antimicrobial resistance, and the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
Yearly, Carthage College invites the community to celebrate the joy of the holiday season at the annual Carthage Christmas Festival, three performances of readings and music in the A. F. Siebert Chapel. These annual concerts are the College's Christmas gift to the community. Tickets to the Christmas Festival have been free since the festival began more than 20 years ago.
These 10 students have been selected to serve as Resident Assistants (RAs) for the 2017-2018 academic year at Rockford University. Demonstrating strong administrative, communication, creativity, and organizational skills, each RA serves a residential community of up to 40 students. Responsibilities include maintaining and enforcing standards and policies of the university, providing mediation and referral services for students, and developing communities that foster academic and personal growth through residential education initiatives that support the mission of Rockford University.
At the end of every academic year, William Woods University recognizes a select group of students as Distinguished Scholars. Faculty members designate one graduating senior from each program for the honor. While eligibility requires a minimum 3.4 grade point average, faculty consider other relevant academic factors in the selection process.
The Great Lakes Career Ready Internship Program at Carthage creates paid internship experiences for junior and senior students. Thanks to the generosity of the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, a total of 198 students over three years will be able to earn $12 per hour for unpaid internships.
A Rock Solid Regent is a student who truly exemplifies what it means to be Rock Solid. Rock Solid Regents are recognized for a variety of reasons, including for academic achievements, extracurricular involvement and campus leadership. Students are nominated by faculty and staff members who recognize that these students' contributions to Rockford University go above and beyond expectations.
The Iowa State University College of Business Dean's List honors students who have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Our student ambassadors take prospective students and families on tours of campus. They also attend recruiting events and receptions with the admissions team. They are truly the front line of recruiting for Carthage and we couldn't survive without them.
Five students were inducted into Phi Alpha Delta, which seeks to form a strong bond uniting students and teachers of the law with members of the bar in a fraternal fellowship designed to advance the ideals of liberty and equal justice under law; to stimulate excellence in scholarship; to inspire the virtues of compassion and courage; to foster integrity and professional competence; to promote the welfare of its members; and to encourage their moral, intellectual, and cultural advancement.
Twenty-one Augustana College students were elected to the college's Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Every spring the Greek community at William Woods University honors those within their ranks who display excellence and service, both in and out of the classroom. Outstanding sorority and fraternity members were honored at an awards ceremony last month.
